Karnataka BJP launches internal probe after cross‑voting scandal in Legislative Council election

In the Karnataka Legislative Council election, members of the BJP and its JD(S) allies were accused of cross‑voting, which allegedly helped Congress gain additional seats. State BJP president B.V. Vijayendra announced that a legislative party meeting will be held at the Dharmasthala shrine, where all 63 BJP legislators are to swear before a sacred altar that they did not engage in cross‑voting. A truth‑search committee comprising C.T. Rave, N. Mahesh and Mahesh Tenginakai has been formed to investigate the allegations.

Vijayendra and legislative party leader R. Ashok are scheduled to travel to New Delhi to brief national party president Nitin Naveen on the matter. The high command has expressed strong displeasure, and a report on the incident is to be submitted to the party leadership. The controversy has raised concerns about the stability of the BJP‑JDS alliance and could affect future electoral strategies in the state.
