Karnataka BJP protests alleged egg attack on MLA B.P. Harish
The Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party staged a protest on July 23 at the Vidhana Soudha campus in Bengaluru, gathering near the Mahatma Gandhi statue. Party leaders including R. Ashoka, B.Y. Vijayendra, and Chalavadi Narayanaswamy led BJP MLAs, MLCs and functionaries in a sit‑in to condemn an alleged egg attack on BJP MLA B.P. Harish outside the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office on July 22.
The BJP accused Congress workers of throwing eggs and possibly weapons at Harish during a peaceful rally, citing video footage and alleging that the state government under Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar failed to ensure legislators' safety. The protest also referenced ongoing tensions over a NEET examination paper‑leak dispute, with both parties staging demonstrations near each other's offices.
The BJP demanded an explanation from the state government and called for stronger protection for elected representatives.
