Karnataka BJP protests water release to Telangana
Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra has raised strong objections to the state government's decision to release approximately 2 TMC of water from the Narayanpur Reservoir to Telangana. Vijayendra criticized Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, alleging that the decision was made to favor the Congress government in Telangana and to protect the Chief Minister's own business interests in that state.
The BJP leader highlighted that this water release is occurring while many parts of Karnataka are facing severe water shortages, affecting both farmers and livestock. He demanded transparency regarding who authorized the release and the basis for the decision, arguing that the interests of Karnataka's citizens are being compromised.
In addition to the water dispute, Vijayendra accused the Congress administration of failing to manage the state's finances and neglecting welfare schemes. He cited issues such as delayed payments for milk producers, inadequate relief for drought-affected farmers, and the state's significant debt burden as evidence of governance failures.
