Karnataka CM D.K. Shivakumar swears in cabinet and mandates 10 am e‑attendance for officials

On June 3, D.K. Shivakumar was sworn in as Karnataka’s chief minister by Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot, alongside 13 ministers at the Bangalore Legislative Assembly. The new cabinet includes senior Bangalore politicians such as K.J. George, Ramalinga Reddy and Krishnappa Bairegowda.

Soon after taking office, Shivakumar issued an order requiring every state officer and staff member to record attendance on a designated e‑app by 10 a.m. each morning and to check out when leaving. The electronic system already contains HRMS data, but officials have not consistently used it. The directive directs departmental heads to review daily dashboards, receive AI‑generated reports of attendance by district, and issue warnings to those who fail to log in. Travel exceptions must be entered in the app and approved by superiors.

These measures aim to improve accountability across Karnataka’s administration while the new cabinet prepares its policy agenda.
