Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar visits former leader Siddaramaiah and orders compensation after quarry tragedy

Chief Minister DK Shivakumar marked his first month in office by visiting former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah at the latter’s official residence, accompanied by his wife and brother. Shivakumar said the meeting was a sign of respect and that Siddaramaiah’s experience would continue to guide the state’s development.

Later in the week, Shivakumar announced that the state government would compensate the families of seven workers who died when a quarry boulder collapsed. He said an investigation would determine whether the quarry was operating legally and in compliance with safety norms, and that legal action would follow any violations.
