Karnataka CM D.K. Shivakumar warns against taking law into own hands

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has issued a warning to citizens, whether Kannada or Marathi, against taking the law into their own hands. He stated that while the government has instructed officials to withdraw cases against activists to free them from legal proceedings, police may object to withdrawing cases if individuals engage in such activities again.

Shivakumar reaffirmed the government's commitment to protecting the interests of Kannada people. Additionally, regarding upcoming protests in New Delhi, he alleged that the names of millions of voters have been systematically removed from voter lists, emphasizing the importance of protecting the right to vote to safeguard democracy.

In Belagavi, tensions rose during Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations as members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Shivaramegowda faction) protested against a planned Black Day rally by the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES). Police detained over 10 activists, including Vajid Hirekudi, to maintain law and order after attempts were made to block the MES procession.
