Karnataka CM holds district meetings as TMC MPs face disqualification notices

Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar held a series of extensive meetings with MLAs from 27 districts to accelerate state development. During these sessions, lawmakers raised concerns regarding local infrastructure, fund allocation, housing projects, and road repairs. The Chief Minister assured that there would be no shortage of funds for developmental works and promised to coordinate with senior officials to release necessary resources.

Additionally, the government is addressing a severe drought affecting 102 taluks. The Chief Minister announced plans for district tours to personally oversee relief operations and monitor the situation for affected citizens.

In a separate political development, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has issued notices to 20 rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs, requiring them to respond within seven days. This follows a Supreme Court hearing regarding a petition filed by Abhishek Banerjee concerning delays in disqualification proceedings under the Members of Parliament (Anti-Defection) Rules, 1985. The court emphasized the importance of completing the process within a fixed timeframe.
