Karnataka CM launches ‘Study Abroad 2026’ initiative

Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar launched the ‘Study Abroad 2026’ initiative, organized by the Department of Skill Development, at the Palace Grounds in Bengaluru. The program aims to provide students with global education opportunities to transform them from job seekers into job creators.

The initiative features participation from over 80 international universities offering more than 300 different subjects. To support this, the state government is providing various scholarships, and banks are offering education loans of up to ₹2 crore. The Chief Minister noted that 3,145 students have already been selected for overseas studies through agreements with foreign institutions, including the University of Queensland.

Highlighting Bengaluru as a global IT hub with 26 lakh IT professionals, Shivakumar emphasized the state's vast human resource potential, including the annual production of over 100,000 engineers and nearly 14,000 doctors. Additionally, the Chief Minister announced that school teachers in the state are now permitted to use the title ‘Tr.’ (Teacher) before their names as a mark of respect.
