Karnataka CM Shivakumar announces withdrawal of cases against Kannada activists

Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar announced on Sunday that the state government is preparing files to withdraw legal cases against Kannada activists. While the government intends to relieve these activists of such cases, Shivakumar cautioned that the police may object to future withdrawals if activists engage in unlawful activities again.

The Chief Minister urged pro-Kannada organizations to refrain from moral policing and attacks on IT companies regarding employment issues, stating that grievances should be brought to the government instead of taking the law into one’s own hands.

Addressing tensions in Belagavi, where the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) observed a “black day,” Shivakumar appealed to both Kannadiga and Marathi speakers to respect the laws and dignity of the land. He emphasized that the law applies equally to everyone residing in the state.
