Karnataka CM Shivakumar marks festivals and water project milestones
Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar has issued appeals for peace and harmony during the Gowri-Ganesha festival celebrations. In his greetings to the state, Shivakumar encouraged the use of eco-friendly Ganesha idols and responsible celebrations during idol immersion. Former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda also extended wishes for the state's prosperity and well-being.
Separately, Chief Minister Shivakumar is scheduled to perform Ganga puja at Gonuru Lake on September 24 to mark the arrival of water via the Upper Bhadra Project. Water has been released on a trial basis through the Chitradurga branch canal, reaching Gonuru Lake after the release of 3 tmcft of water. The project, which aims to fill approximately 80 lakes across several taluks, is targeted for completion by 2028, pending central government assistance of Rs 5,300 crore.
