Karnataka CM Shivakumar rebukes Union Minister Kumaraswamy over river‑link project

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on July 12 sharply criticised Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy for commenting on the Godavari‑Krishna‑Cauvery river‑linking project without first understanding its details. Shivakumar urged the minister to meet the Union Minister of Water Resources and the Prime Minister to grasp the scheme before speaking about it.

Shivakumar said the central government has responded positively to the proposal to continue the multi‑billion‑rupee linking project, valued at about one lakh crore rupees, and highlighted historic discussions with the chief ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh aimed at a permanent solution to inter‑state water disputes. He noted Karnataka’s earlier consent to the project and stressed that the state’s interests will be protected.
