Karnataka Congress leaders reject patriotism validation from BJP and RSS
Political tensions in Karnataka have escalated following an FIR filed against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The complaint alleges disruptions during the rendition of the national song, ‘Vande Mataram’, on Independence Day.
Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge defended the Congress party, stating they do not require patriotism certificates from the BJP, RSS, or ABVP. He accused the Sangh Parivar of political opportunism and weaponizing national symbols for political gain.
In a separate but related escalation, KPCC President B.K. Hariprasad drew sharp criticism after comparing the RSS to Jaish-e-Mohammed and the Taliban, arguing that all three are unregistered organisations. The BJP has responded to these remarks, calling for leaders to focus on substantive issues.
