Karnataka CM warns IT firms against sidelining Kannadigas
Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has issued a warning to private institutions and IT companies in Bengaluru, stating the government will take action if they are found to be deliberately denying job opportunities to Kannadigas.
The warning follows a viral social media video in which a jobseeker alleged linguistic discrimination, claiming that candidates who list Kannada as their mother tongue are being rejected in favor of applicants from neighboring states. The allegations suggest that some firms may be prioritizing Telugu and Tamil speakers or recruiting from other states to secure lower salaries.
Shivakumar emphasized that the state government takes these complaints seriously and asserted that the rights, dignity, and employment prospects of local residents will not be compromised. He noted that while Bengaluru is a global technology hub, the government remains committed to protecting the interests of the local workforce.
