Karnataka expands tourism through interstate cooperation and hotel projects

Karnataka is expanding its tourism sector through both inter-state cooperation and significant infrastructure investment. The state is set to sign an agreement with Jharkhand to provide technical expertise and guidance on developing eco-tourism and sustainable tourism models. A delegation from Jharkhand recently visited Bengaluru to study Karnataka’s methods for linking tourism with local employment and environmental conservation.

Simultaneously, Karnataka has cleared 78 hotel projects under its 2024-29 Tourism Policy. This includes in-principle approval for 35 premium and 43 budget hotels, expected to attract over Rs 1,080 crore in investment and create 3,424 additional rooms. Additionally, the state has approved 18 specific projects involving Rs 314.93 crore, which are projected to generate 1,542 jobs. These initiatives aim to strengthen hospitality infrastructure and attract private investment to realize the state’s untapped tourism potential.
