Karnataka FIR filed against former KPSC chairman over veterinary officer recruitment scandal

A fresh FIR was lodged at Vidhana Soudha Police Station against former Karnataka Public Service Commission chairman Shivashankarappa Sahukar for alleged irregularities in the recruitment of 400 veterinary officers. The complaint alleges favoritism, manipulation of OMR answer sheets, and monetary payments to secure appointments, citing a viral audio clip that mentions an Rs 80 lakh deal. Police have registered the case under provisions relating to cheating and the Karnataka Examinations Act, and the investigation is ongoing.

State BJP president B. Y. Vijayendra has demanded a thorough probe into the alleged scam, urging strict action against anyone found guilty and pledging support for student protests. He criticised the Congress government for inaction and called for reforms to restore confidence in the KPSC recruitment process. Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge also warned that no one should jeopardise students' futures through such irregularities.
