Karnataka High Court Rejects Land‑Acquisition Challenge as BJP and JD(S) Set Protest Dates for Bidadi Township

The Karnataka High Court dismissed a public‑interest litigation that sought to block land acquisition for the Greater Bengaluru Integrated Township project in Bidadi, clearing the way for the state government's plan. The court noted that the acquisition process might involve special compensation mechanisms but did not find a legal flaw, directing the petitioners to prove any violation. The ruling was welcomed by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who stressed that the project would proceed only after a review committee examines farmer concerns.

Separately, Karnataka’s BJP unit confirmed it has no objections to the Janata Dal (Secular)‑announced protest march dates of July 30, July 31 and August 1, aimed at demanding the withdrawal of the Bidadi township scheme. Party leaders emphasized unity with JD(S) in opposing the project, citing farmer participation in earlier rallies and calling for the scheme’s immediate repeal.
