Karnataka launches Golden Chariot luxury tourist train

Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has officially flagged off the Golden Chariot luxury tourist train for the 2026–27 season. The relaunch features the five-night, six-day ‘Pride of Karnataka’ tour, which has been redesigned with a new look and updated routes to highlight the state’s cultural heritage, wildlife, and historical sites.

The ‘Pride of Karnataka’ itinerary includes destinations such as Bandipur, Mysuru, Halebidu, Chikkamagaluru, and Hampi, providing luxury amenities like spa facilities and specialized catering.

In addition to the primary tour, the government has finalized two other itineraries: ‘Jewel of the South,’ which covers Hampi, Mahabalipuram, Mysuru, Bengaluru, Kochi, and Chettinad, and ‘Glimpses of Karnataka,’ which focuses on heritage sites like Hampi, Belur, and Halebidu. The initiative aims to attract both domestic and international tourists while generating local employment opportunities.
