Karnataka launches Tathyakosh data discovery platform

The Government of Karnataka’s Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (ACSEL Technology Forum) has launched Tathyakosh, a new digital public good designed to streamline India’s fragmented public data ecosystem. The platform was unveiled in Bengaluru by Priyank Kharge, the Minister for Home, Information Technology, Biotechnology, and E-Governance.

Tathyakosh aggregates more than 1.5 million datasets from 458 different sources into a single searchable repository. The initiative aims to help researchers, startups, developers, and policymakers more efficiently discover and assess public data that was previously scattered across various government portals and research institutions.

Minister Kharge noted that India’s artificial intelligence ambitions rely on the ability to utilize existing institutional data. By establishing Tathyakosh as an open, non-commercial infrastructure, the government intends to provide a foundational tool for building with Indian data.
