Karnataka: Lokayukta raids, industry strikes, and child labor detection

In Karnataka, several significant developments have occurred across the state. Lokayukta officials conducted simultaneous raids in Bengaluru, Bidar, Mandya, Chikkaballapur, and Kodagu, uncovering illegal assets belonging to eight corrupt government officials. The raids targeted offices and residences, seizing cash, jewelry, and luxury items.

In a separate industrial dispute, the Karnataka State Stone Quarry and Gravel Crusher Owners Association has initiated a state-wide strike. The shutdown of quarries, gravel crushers, and M-sand units began on September 18, protesting double royalty collections and notices from the Department of Mines and Geology.

In Malur, labor inspectors identified a minor working in a commercial establishment. Legal action was taken against the owner following the detection of child labor, highlighting enforcement of the Child Labour Act and Factories Act.

Additionally, a personal story gained social media attention regarding an individual who returned to India from the United States after 23 years. Despite a successful career in biomedical engineering in Pennsylvania, the individual chose to relocate to Mumbai to care for an elderly, cancer-stricken mother.
