Karnataka moves to fill 72,000 jobs and nominate police for President’s medals

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara said the state government will fill 72,186 vacant posts within six months, appointing senior officials Uma Mahadevan and Gaurav Gupta to oversee recruitment. Departments have been instructed to issue notifications for teachers, doctors, nurses, engineers and other staff, aiming to address long‑standing vacancies and youth unemployment.

The Karnataka Home Department has forwarded recommendations for 40 police personnel, including 13 IPS officers, to receive the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service or Meritorious Service. Proposals from the Director General and Inspector General of Police were sent to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, highlighting senior officers such as ADGP Harishekaran P and ADGP Ravi S among the nominees.
