Karnataka NDA leaders demand financial white paper and protest voter-roll interference
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Karnataka has accused state police of interfering in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. Leaders, including BJP state president B Y Vijayendra and Union Ministers HD Kumaraswamy and Shobha Karandlaje, submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) demanding an end to the registration of FIRs against individuals filing Form-7 voter-roll objections.
Vijayendra also criticized the state government’s financial management, calling for a white paper on Karnataka’s finances. He alleged that spending on guarantee schemes has depleted the treasury, affecting the ability to pay salaries in departments such as police and irrigation. Additionally, Vijayendra demanded increased drought compensation for farmers, seeking ₹50,000 per acre compared to the current ₹2,500 per hectare.
Opposition leaders further alleged that the Congress government is using police action to suppress legitimate electoral objections. They have indicated they may approach Lok Bhavan to address the perceived interference in the electoral process.
