Karnataka poaching shootout: Fourth suspect seeks police protection

Mahimadas, a man identified as the fourth suspect in a poaching-related shootout in Karnataka, has released a video message from an undisclosed location. The incident, which occurred on August 15 in the Shagya range of the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, involved an exchange of fire between Forest Department personnel and suspected poachers that resulted in three deaths.

In the video, Mahimadas claims that forest officials began firing suddenly around 5:30 am, causing him to flee out of fear. He stated that he felt unwell during the incident, eventually making his way home before seeking hospital treatment. Mahimadas expressed concern that forest officials are attempting to use him as a witness to the shootout and has appealed to the police for protection.

The Forest Department has not yet issued an immediate response to these claims.
