Karnataka police arrest Bangladeshi and Pakistani migrants amid crackdown
Three Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by the Urva police in Mangaluru, Karnataka, during a special verification drive aimed at illegal immigrants. The operation, launched across all police stations in the city, followed intelligence inputs about Bangladeshi migrants working in construction, port activities and other sectors. Police said the suspects admitted their illegal status and led investigators to additional suspected migrants, prompting further questioning and a wider probe into the role of agents and financial transactions.
In a separate case, two Pakistani nationals were detained in Chikkaballapura district, Karnataka, after authorities discovered they had obtained a ration card and voter ID by concealing their nationality. The suspects, a mother and her son, were booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Foreigners Act and the Representation of the People Act. Their arrest is part of the same state‑wide effort to identify and penalise illegal stay and document fraud.
Both investigations are ongoing as Karnataka police continue the crackdown on undocumented foreign workers across the state.
