Karnataka Police arrest two in Chikkaballapur terror plot investigation

Karnataka Police have arrested two individuals, identified as Shabbir and Salman, in connection with an alleged terrorist conspiracy discussed on a Telegram group in Chikkaballapur. Investigators are examining the group's communications to determine if concrete preparations were made for terrorist activities, including allegations that the group discussed kidnapping wealthy individuals to fund such operations.

Following the arrests, BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka demanded immediate security for BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, former MP Pratap Simha, and MLC CT Ravi. Ashoka claimed that a gang of four terrorists had planned to assassinate these three leaders, citing their prominent Hindu nationalist stances. While the police have registered a case under Section 113 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), they have not yet independently confirmed the specific targets or the total number of people involved in the alleged plot.
