Karnataka police investigate separate assaults on law enforcement officers

Two separate incidents of violence involving law enforcement personnel have been reported in Karnataka, India.

In Bengaluru, a pregnant woman constable named Shilpa was severely assaulted at the Majestic Railway Police Station. The attacker, who had initially been asked to return later to file a complaint, allegedly returned armed with a heavy iron rod. Reports indicate the assailant struck the constable on the head at least eight times. Shilpa was transported to Manipal Hospital and later moved to Suguna Hospital for critical care. Authorities have apprehended the assailant and launched an investigation.

In Mysuru, a case has been registered against a traffic policeman, identified as Beerappa, following an alleged assault on a 29-year-old man, K. Srinivas. The complainant alleges that during a vehicle check near JSS College, the officer assaulted him, used foul language, and snatched his mobile phone. Srinivas further claimed that when he attempted to retrieve his phone from the KR Police Station, the device had been tampered with and evidence on the chip was destroyed. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
