Karnataka politicians clash over RSS transparency and marches
A political confrontation has emerged in Karnataka between ruling Congress members and BJP leaders regarding the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge has called for greater financial transparency from the organization, suggesting that the RSS avoids formal registration to evade legal scrutiny and public accountability. Kharge questioned the sources of the organization's funding and its auditing processes.
In response, former Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan criticized Kharge’s recent demand that the RSS seek formal police permission for its route marches (Path Sanchalan). Narayan accused the minister of making “hateful statements” and abusing his political authority to target the cultural organization. The dispute follows recent RSS marches held in various Bengaluru neighborhoods, including Malleshwaram.
