Karnataka invites global tech leaders to build Quantum City
The Karnataka state government has invited global technology leaders, startups, and investors to collaborate on the development of ‘Quantum City,’ a proposed hub for research and deep-tech innovation. Speaking at a high-level roundtable in Bengaluru, Minister for Science & Technology Ajay Dharam Singh emphasized the goal of creating a globally competitive ecosystem encompassing quantum technologies, artificial intelligence, SpaceTech, DroneTech, and geospatial technologies.
Under the Karnataka Space Technology Policy 2025–30, the state aims to capture 50 per cent of India’s space market and 5 per cent of the global market by 2033. The initiative seeks to attract $3 billion in investments and train 50,000 professionals. The government is focusing on ease of doing business to allow companies to build, test, and scale technologies within the state.
In a related development, Minister Singh met with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman V. Narayanan to congratulate the agency on the successful GSLV-F17/EOS-05 mission. The meeting highlighted the intent to strengthen cooperation between the state government and ISRO to support the growth of space science and emerging technologies in Karnataka.
