Karnataka PSC Chairman's Daughter Accused of False Income Claim for Reservation

The Karnataka High Court refused to hear a petition filed by Suma S Sahukar, daughter of suspended Karnataka Public Service Commission chairman Shivashankarappa S Sahukar. An FIR alleges she declared her father's annual income as ₹40,000 to obtain reservation benefits under Category 3B for economically weaker sections. Justice M Nagaprasanna called the case “open and shut,” questioning how the low income figure could qualify and noting the apparent fraud.

Suma S withdrew her petition after the bench allowed her to approach the court again once the criminal case report is filed. The court also highlighted chronic controversies in KPSC recruitments, stating that “every selection is marred with controversy.” Senior Advocate Aruna Shyam argued procedural lapses, but the judge emphasized that the facts were undisputed and no further inquiry was needed.
