Bangalore Hotels Association threatens Swiggy boycott from Aug 15
The Bangalore Hotels Association (BHA) has given Swiggy a 15‑day window to address a series of payment and deduction grievances. Hotels say Swiggy is making unauthorised advertising and promotional charges, imposing service fees on GST amounts and lacking transparency in its payout statements. As a result, restaurant owners receive less than 50 % of the billed order value after deductions. Approximately 20,000 of the city's 34,000 hotels and restaurants are listed on online food‑delivery platforms, and the association claims the current arrangements are financially unsustainable. BHA, together with the Karnataka State Hotels Association, the National Restaurant Association of India and other bodies, warned that all affiliated establishments will suspend business with Swiggy from 15 August if the issues are not resolved.
