KPSC veterinary officer recruitment under probe over alleged Rs 80 lakh scam

More than 50 candidates have lodged a police complaint alleging that the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment for 400 veterinary officer posts was marred by large‑scale irregularities. The complainants claim middlemen demanded payments ranging from Rs 70 lakh to Rs 80 lakh to secure appointments and allege that some successful candidates are relatives of influential KPSC members.

Veterinary doctors have also filed a complaint, presenting audio recordings and other evidence, and have staged a protest outside Vidhana Soudha Police Station demanding a thorough investigation and cancellation of the results. The scandal follows the suspension of KPSC Chairman Shivashankarappa Sahukar, who was accused of facilitating the illegal selection of his daughters. Authorities have not yet issued a formal response.
