Karnataka regional updates: Kolar cooperative expansion and Mangaluru public grievance meeting
In Kolar, the Kolar Taluk Agricultural Produce Consumers Cooperative Marketing Society (TAPCMS) has announced plans to demolish its aging 80-year-old building to construct a new office and warehouse. During the annual general meeting, President Vadaguru V. Ramu presented a budget of ₹62.28 lakh for the 2025-26 fiscal year, marking an increase of ₹9.23 lakh from the previous year. The society currently earns ₹52 lakh in rent from nearby buildings and is working to recover over ₹1 crore in dues from defaulters. Requests have been made to the District Collector for land to accommodate the new facilities due to space constraints and traffic issues.
In Mangaluru, a public service movement meeting was held at the Mangaluru City Corporation's Mangala Hall to address local grievances. Led by MLA Vedavyas Kamath and attended by District Collector Dharshan H.V., hundreds of citizens raised issues regarding the suspension of the Sandhya Suraksha pension scheme and drainage problems. Residents reported that some women have not received pensions for six months. Additionally, citizens raised concerns regarding delays in land conversion processes and single-site allotment procedures, prompting officials to investigate the administrative bottlenecks.
