Karnataka regions celebrate 80th Independence Day

Various regions in Karnataka, including Bhatkal and Mangaluru, celebrated India's 80th Independence Day with flag-hoisting ceremonies and patriotic programs.

In Bhatkal, Assistant Commissioner J. Mahesh and MLA Mankal Vaidya led celebrations, emphasizing the town's tradition of communal harmony and the importance of protecting the coastal environment and Western Ghats biodiversity. District in-charge minister Laxman Savadi noted a government target to accelerate administration and development, focusing on farmers, youth, and infrastructure.

In Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister U. T. Khader urged citizens to honor the sacrifices of freedom fighters and uphold national unity. Khader also highlighted various state developmental initiatives, including the Gruha Lakshmi, Yuva Nidhi, Gruha Jyothi, and Shakti schemes, which have provided significant financial support to women and youth in the district. He noted ongoing infrastructure projects, such as underground electricity cabling in Mangaluru and Ullal.
