Karnataka road accident kills father and teenage son

A 41-year-old man and his 15-year-old son were killed on Sunday evening after their scooter collided with a stationary, broken-down lorry on National Highway-48 in the Haveri district of Karnataka.

The victims, identified as Maruti and Parashuram, were residents of Chikkaldinni village. They were traveling from Hiriyur toward Chikkaldinni on a TVS XL scooter with other family members when the vehicle rammed into the rear of the broken-down lorry near Gundena Halli Cross in Byadagi taluk.

Maruti’s wife, 31-year-old Manjula, and their 13-year-old son, Nanjunda, sustained serious injuries in the collision. They were treated at Haveri District Hospital before being transferred to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital in Hubballi for further care. Local police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
