Karnataka road accidents leave five dead and 23 injured
Five people were killed and at least 23 others injured in a series of road accidents across Karnataka on Thursday.
In Haveri district, three residents of Davanagere city—Siddharth, 27, Hasanmukhi, 29, and Yashoda Bai, 51—died after their car collided with a parked truck near Ranebennur town. Three others were critically injured in the crash.
In Mandya district, a private sleeper bus overturned near the Bellur Toll on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru highway after reportedly hitting a roadside signboard. The accident resulted in two deaths and 20 injuries, with authorities suspecting overspeeding as a cause.
Additionally, in Udupi district, seven passengers escaped unharmed after a private bus caught fire near Brahmavar town. The fire originated in the vehicle's electrical box, but the conductor successfully evacuated all passengers before the blaze spread.
