Karnataka to Recruit for 74,000 Government Vacancies

The Karnataka state government announced that recruitment will commence for 74,000 vacant posts, with 36,774 positions slated to be filled within the next six months. The recruitment drive follows a high‑level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and attended by state minister Priyank Kharge.

New examination safeguards will be introduced, including a random question‑bank system, tamper‑proof question papers and jammers in every test room. A "flying squad" will inspect test centres, and a detailed dress‑code has been issued, allowing items such as udara, lingam, kumkum and scarves while prohibiting hijabs. The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) will oversee the process.

A Competitive Examinations and Recruitment Reform Committee, chaired by former chief secretary S.V. Ranganath, has been formed to monitor the recruitment. Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra has called for a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in past recruitment drives, accusing the previous Congress government of mismanagement.
