Karo Flower and Fruit Festival drives tourism surge and local economic growth

The Karo Flower and Fruit Festival (FBB) was held in Kabanjahe, North Sumatra from July 30 to August 1, 2026 under the theme “The Eternal of Karo Paradise – Pesona Abadi Tanah Karo.” Thousands of visitors attended a program that included cultural performances, agricultural exhibitions, business‑matching sessions and a parade of decorated vehicles.

Regent Antonius Ginting said the three‑day event boosted tourism and the local economy, noting higher hotel occupancy, increased transactions for micro‑small‑medium enterprises and wider promotion of Karo’s horticultural commodities. He highlighted that the festival’s success stemmed from community collaboration and its inclusion in the Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN) 2026 program, positioning Karo as a national tourism destination. Plans are already under way for a 2027 edition.
