Karol Nawrocki discusses U.S. military presence and investments with Donald Trump

During a visit to the United States for the 81st UN General Assembly, Polish President Karol Nawrocki held discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding military and economic cooperation. A primary focus of their conversation was the permanent presence of U.S. troops in Poland. According to Marcin Przydacz, head of the President's International Policy Office, a political decision regarding the base has already been reached, and the task now moves to the Polish Ministry of National Defense to finalize locations and logistics.

The leaders also discussed investment cooperation, with Nawrocki seeking support for American companies considering relocation to Warsaw, including those interested in servicing U.S. military equipment in Poland. Additionally, Nawrocki appointed a special ambassador for innovation and new technologies to strengthen business ties with the U.S.

The proposal to name the future military installation ‘Fort Trump’ has drawn criticism from Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, who described the idea as ‘demonstrating subservience’ and suggested more neutral names like Ronald Reagan to avoid political risks in the U.S. Congress.
