Karolína Muchová secures final WTA Finals singles spot

Karolína Muchová has clinched the eighth and final singles position for the 2026 WTA Finals in Indian Wells. Her qualification was confirmed following the retirement of Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk during her second-round match against Ekaterina Alexandrova at the Ningbo Open.

Kostyuk, who required a medical timeout after losing the first set 6-4, was unable to continue, effectively ending her bid to reach the season-ending championships. The retirement also follows the earlier withdrawal of Iga Swiatek from the Ningbo tournament due to a thigh injury.

The complete singles lineup for the tournament, scheduled to take place from November 8 to 15, includes Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka, Mirra Andreeva, Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff, Elina Svitolina, Linda Nosková, and Muchová. Additionally, Cristina Bucsa will represent Spain in the doubles competition alongside Nicole Melichar.

Muchová enters the finals following a strong season that included reaching the Wimbledon final and winning titles in Doha and Bad Homburg.
