Karolkiewicz Family Murder‑Suicide Shocks Michigan Community

On July 24, 2026, eight members of the Karolkiewicz family were found dead inside their home in Grand Haven Township, Michigan. Police determined that husband Kristopher Karolkiewicz shot his wife, Amanda “Mandy” Karolkiewicz, and their six children—including 11‑year‑old twins Ella and Caroline, adopted from China—before turning the legally registered handgun on himself.

After the shootings, Kristopher set multiple intentional fires on the first floor and in the basement, likely to destroy evidence. The blaze concealed the victims, and several family pets also perished. No signs of forced entry or struggle were found, and investigators ruled the deaths of Amanda and the children as homicides and Kristopher’s death as a suicide. The twin daughters had returned to the United States only days earlier after a heritage trip to Shanghai and Hangzhou.
