Kars authorities expand gender‑based violence awareness outreach

The Kars Governor’s Office Open Door Branch continues field visits across the city to inform residents about family and gender‑based violence. Teams meet citizens one‑on‑one, explaining the various forms of abuse—physical, psychological, economic, sexual and digital—and the legal rights, reporting procedures and protective measures available under Turkey’s Law No. 6284 on family protection.

Under Governor Ziya Polat’s directive, the outreach also demonstrates the KADES (Women Support) mobile application, distributes Ministry of Family and Social Services brochures titled “Zero Tolerance for Violence Against Women,” and outlines the institutions that victims can approach for help. Officials say the campaign will run year‑round to raise public awareness and increase the visibility of Open Door units as a primary point of contact for abuse victims.
