Kars Harakani Airport sees 423,000 passengers in first eight months of 2026

Kars Harakani Airport recorded 423,382 passengers during the first eight months of 2026. During this period, the airport handled 2,548 aircraft movements and transported 3,877 tons of cargo.

In August 2026 alone, the airport served 57,443 passengers, saw 343 aircraft movements, and moved 544 tons of cargo. This seasonal increase is attributed to rising tourism, commercial activity, and regional travel needs.

A significant driver of this growth is the introduction of direct flights between Baku and Kars by Azerbaijan's national airline, AZAL. Launched on July 30, 2026, these flights operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, enhancing international connectivity and supporting social and cultural ties between the two countries.
