Kars to transform historic milk powder factory into science center

A 140 million TL project has been launched to convert the historic, registered Old Milk Powder Factory in Kars into the Gazi Kars Science Center. The initiative aims to preserve the city's industrial heritage while creating a regional hub for science, technology, education, and tourism.

The project will involve restoring the factory complex, which includes approximately 2,000 square meters of indoor space and 6,500 square meters of outdoor area. The center is planned to feature a planetarium, interactive exhibition spaces, and at least five thematic workshops designed for children, youth, and families to engage in hands-on scientific learning.

Financing for the project is split between the Serhat Development Agency (SERKA), which will provide 126 million TL, and the Kars Special Provincial Administration, which will contribute 14 million TL. Additionally, TÜBİTAK is expected to support the procurement of scientific equipment and interior furnishings.
