Karsten to close Ibirama factory in Santa Catarina
Textile company Karsten has announced it will close its manufacturing facility in Ibirama, Santa Catarina, on November 27, 2026. The decision is expected to affect approximately 74 to 75 employees currently working at the unit.
The company stated that the closure is part of a strategic and operational reorganization intended to align with its broader business planning. Despite the shutdown, Karsten reported that it maintains positive performance and that its other operations, including its headquarters in Blumenau, will continue to function normally.
The Ibirama unit, which focuses on bedding production, began operations in 2021 in a facility previously occupied by Cia Hering. This restructuring occurs as the company expands internationally, following the opening of a new industrial unit in Minga Guazú, Paraguay, earlier this year.
