Karsten Wildberger calls for smart glasses regulation

German Federal Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger has stated that regulations for the use of smart glasses are necessary to prevent potential misuse of the technology. Speaking on the sidelines of the IFA in Berlin, Wildberger emphasized that the risks to privacy must be taken seriously in Germany.

Wildberger noted that while rules are required because the technology is not intended for certain uses, regulation should be designed so that it does not stifle the benefits or technical possibilities of the devices. He suggested that the same rules governing normal life should apply to the use of smart glasses.
