Karthik Subbaraj's 'Dorothy' set for Toronto Film Festival premiere

Director Karthik Subbaraj announced his tenth feature film, titled "Dorothy," starring Keerthy Suresh alongside Sananth and Rishikanth. The Tamil‑language drama will be scored by legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja, marking his 1,540th film, and is produced by Jio Studios, Sikhya Entertainment and Dhammam Films.

"Dorothy" is scheduled to open the Centrepiece section of the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, with a theatrical release across India slated for 25 September 2026. Subbaraj said the film explores identity, caste, masculinity and compassion through deeply human characters, drawing on the cultural landscape of Tamil Nadu.

The project is backed by producers Jyoti Deshpande, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, and aims to combine the depth of a festival film with the accessibility of commercial cinema.
