Karthik Subbaraj's film ‘Dorothy’ set for worldwide release

Director Karthik Subbaraj is set to release his upcoming film, ‘Dorothy’, in theaters worldwide on September 25. The film, which stars Keerthy Suresh, Sananth, and Rishikanth, recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in the Centrepiece category.

Set in rural India during the early 1990s, the narrative explores themes of friendship, love, and honor against a backdrop of caste, violence, and prejudice. The production features an original score by composer Ilaiyaraaja, marking his 1,540th film milestone.

The release follows the commercial failure of Subbaraj’s previous film, ‘Retro’, which impacted his standing in the South Indian film industry. Following the positive reception of the ‘Dorothy’ trailer and its TIFF screening, there is significant anticipation regarding whether the film will facilitate a successful comeback for the director.
