Karthi's spy thriller Sardar 2 cleared for release

The spy thriller 'Sardar 2', directed by PS Mithran and starring Karthi, has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A certificate. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 10.

Karthi described the production as a significant physical and psychological challenge, noting that he portrays both a father and son character. The role required intense prosthetic makeup to depict an aged operative. The film also features SJ Suryah as an unpredictable antagonist and includes female leads Ashika Ranganath and Malavika Mohanan in strong, intelligent roles.

Beyond the action, Karthi indicated that the film addresses critical issues regarding health and hygiene. Following the themes of the original film, which touched upon the commercialization of water, this sequel is expected to present a message regarding health that may impact viewer perspectives on well-being.
