Karting Africa announces new continental cup to develop F1 talent

WORR Motorsport and Karting Africa have announced plans to develop future African Formula One drivers through a new continental initiative. The project will be previewed at an international Karting Showrun in Benguela, Angola, scheduled for October 10 and 11, 2026. This event, which is part of the Angolan National League, is expected to feature 39 drivers from across the continent.

The showrun serves as a precursor to the Karting Africa Cup, a five-round championship planned to run across Africa in 2027. The initiative has received support from the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and is being organized by the South African-based WORR Motorsport in collaboration with the Angola Motor Sports Federation (FADM).

Expected participants include drivers from various nations, including South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Madagascar, Seychelles, Namibia, Ghana, Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Eswatini. The long-term objective is to establish a world-class championship that serves as a premier platform for young motorsport talent in Africa.
