Karviná city police say early public alerts speed up interventions

City police in Karviná receive about 20‑30 reports each day through the free telephone line 156, covering conflicts, vandalism, traffic violations and other disturbances. Director Petr Kijonka says that the earlier the information reaches the force, the more quickly officers can react, resolve the situation and, in some cases, identify the perpetrator faster than with email reports.

Calls are prioritized by an operations centre, patrols are moved across the city as needed, and a municipal camera system assists investigations. A recent example involved damage to flower‑pots at the town hall that was solved by reviewing video footage. The police stress the importance of resident cooperation to keep Karviná safe and pleasant to live in.
