Karviná installs solar panels on school buildings

The city of Karviná has begun installing photovoltaic panels on the roofs of two educational buildings: Základní škola Borovského and Mateřská škola Olbrachtova. The project, which started in August, is expected to take approximately two months to complete.

The installation at the Borovského primary school includes 94 panels with a total capacity of 43.24 kWp, while the Olbrachtova nursery school will receive 68 panels totaling 31.28 kWp. The generated electricity will be used directly on-site for lighting, kitchen operations, water heating, and air conditioning.

Financial savings are estimated at approximately 80,000 CZK annually for the primary school and 50,000 CZK for the nursery school. Additionally, the project includes the installation of hot water storage tanks and air conditioning systems. During periods of low consumption, such as weekends or summer holidays, the excess energy is planned to be shared with other municipal buildings.
